Open since September 2017, Villages Nature Paris has its own geothermal station, with two wells dug 1,900 metres underground. Extracted at around 80°, the heated water drawn from the well meets 40% of the needs of the two Disneyland Paris parks and all of Villages Nature’s energy requirements, right down to the Aqualagon.
To avoid mixing cold and hot water, two wells were dug 2.15 kilometers apart, in the Dogger (the main geothermal aquifer exploited in the Paris region).
To bring the water to the surface, a well collects the water, thanks to a pump immersed at a depth of around 200 metres, which is necessary to guarantee a good flow. Once at the surface, the water enters the power plant, then passes through two heat exchangers to extract maximum energy from the geothermal water.
The water loop is a closed circuit, meaning that the hot water, once back in the exchanger at a cooler temperature, returns to the Dogger, to the second well, at a temperature of around 30°. The loop, which passes through Disneyland Paris, returns and then irrigates Villages Nature, is 25 kilometers long.
