Initiated in September 2017, this program aims to develop energy efficiency projects at ArcelorMittal’s production sites in France, through the integration of variable speed drives on the steel giant’s industrial processes.
Schneider Electric acts as technical partner for the design, integration and maintenance of the equipment for the duration of the contract. Schneider Electric guarantees a minimum level of energy savings, the achievement of which is validated by a measurement and verification protocol in compliance with IPMVP standards, the benchmark in this field.
Kyotherm acts as a financial partner by setting up an Energy Performance Contract based on an Energy-as-a-Service model. As a result, ArcelorMittal bears no investment costs for the implementation of these energy efficiency projects and benefits from a reduction in its energy bill from the very first year.
Committed since 2017, this program has enabled the implementation of 5 energy efficiency projects at the Florange, Fos-sur-Mer and Dunkirk sites, three of France’s largest steelworks. Each year, these projects generate 41 GWh in electricity savings and reduce the world’s leading steelmaker’s CO2 emissions by more than 2,500 tonnes.
