Kyotherm proudly announces that its 20 MW biodiesel generator in Northern Ireland has successfully passed all required tests and is now connected to the grid. The project was entirely financed by Kyotherm, while CoolPlanet oversaw construction.
This generator represents the largest independent power plant to come online in Northern Ireland in the past 15 years. It will provide critical support to the grid by offering additional capacity, thereby enhancing energy resilience. The bio-generator aligns with the grid operator’s strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in the Irish energy market.
Construction was managed by the CoolPlanet Group, which will also handle the operation and maintenance of the asset throughout its lifecycle. Additionally, PowerHouse, a CoolPlanet Group affiliate, will serve as the aggregator for this project.
Kyotherm’s third-party financing underscores its commitment to driving the energy transition and industrial decarbonization across Europe. This project aligns with Kyotherm’s strategy to finance flexibility assets, facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.
